Welcome to our Piano is Fun review.  We hope it helps you get a feel for what the program has to offer.  We do independent reviews of several such software packages and hope they are useful in helping sort through some of the options out there.

The title says it all.  While working up this Piano Is Fun Review it became obvious that we were dealing with a FUN Software package that Helps Children and Adult Beginners Learn To read piano notes by using games that keep them coming back for more.

One of the reasons people starting out to take piano lessons often fail is that they lose interest because the lessons are B-O-R-I-N-G…  That’s not the fault of the student but rather it’s the fault of the instructor or the material.

This is especially true with children!  If something isn’t moving or making noise they are easily distracted by things that do.  Today video games are a huge source of this distraction.  Having a game on the computer to counter that is taking a page out of the video game book and it fights fire with fire.  Here’s a quote from a happy parent as example that touches this sentiment

During our Piano Is Fun Revew we discovered that there are twenty step-by-step interactive exercises that are actually practice lessons designed to teach by helping the beginner learn to listen and develop a ‘musical ear’ which enhances their sense of pitch.  Some programs of instruction for beginners just do a rote memorization skills exercise and I’ve found through teaching for many years that such techniques are very ineffective.  I like the approach of this course because it meets with one of our prime criteria: Learning should be fun.

As our Piano Is Fun Revew progressed we found that as students progress they collect rewards which incentivizes them to get all of the awards possible.  This is similar to collecting merit badges as a scouting program promotes.   At certain levels they receive printable certificates of achievement to further encourage them to complete their exercises in a timely fashion.  Again this meets one of our criteria: students must want to learn and if you can get them to come back, on their own, to seek more instruction you’re ahead of the game.

When we overlaid the idea of adult beginners onto our Piano Is Fun Review we found that adults can also use the software package; it is particularly good in helping them improve their sight reading.  It has also been successfully used by adults who are “young at heart” to learn the basics of reading music!
